19A: Idea Napkin No. 2
Me: I am a college student at the University of Florida. My skills are working with all different kinds of people and relating with them them differently and being liked upon all. I have extensive experience in the restaurant industry working in it since I way 15 (I am 20 now). My aspirations are to work hard, period. As of right now I do not know exactly what I want to do, but my plan is to figure it out within the next two years and work super hard at what it is I love to do. If this business unfolded in my favor I could see a great daily life for myself. Running the ParkBuddy app I would be dealing with a bunch of people and having to create great relationships to make everyone apart of the team happy.
What am I offering to customers: I am offering peer to peer parking where people can make money renting out their empty parking spaces from people around the area who need a guaranteed parking space at a reasonable price.
Who am I offering it to: The demographics of my customers come in two areas. For lenders (people renting out their empty parking space) are people who live in houses next to crowded areas. Houses in these areas are usually cheap and the people living in them would take advantage of the extra income on the side. For the Users (people booking parking spaces, It would be people looking for a spot such as college students who need to have their car somewhere for the semester or people looking for game day parking.
Why do they care: From the research I have done, people pay up to $150 to park somewhere. People end up late to many important events because of parking. People want guaranteed parking in advance at a reasonable price because it would alleviate the hassle of finding parking in crowded areas. College students could rent out the space they have to make the money back that they spend on a spot.
What are your core competencies: What makes me different is peer to peer parking. There are services out there that will help you find parking garages or valet parking, but the aspect of finding people in the community that will rent out their parking spaces to others is what makes us different.
I think all of these pieces fit together. The demographics of the people fit the market and my competitive advantage is clear (peer to peer parking).
Feedback Memo: All the three comments I received were positive. No one mentioned one thing I should tweak or change. With that being said I kept most of the Idea Napkin the same. However, I did change a few things based on the positive feed back. One student replied they pay $150 for a spot near campus and they would love a cheaper spot or even rent out the spot they have to someone else. I added this to the "why do they care" section and "who am I offering it to" section. Since no comment referred to how I could change, I figured the bulk of the first assignment would be the same.
Hey Thomas...
ReplyDeleteI think that your idea from the very beginning has been solid and I'm pretty sure I was one that posted on your initial blog essentially saying the same. I still stand by that but I do acknowledge and value your update that takes into consideration the one comment you did receive in regards to the price they pay and their desire for something less expensive.
Hey Thomas, I think I was one of your initial comments on your first post. I think your idea is still golden like the last post. I think how you implemented a cash value that someone pays to park on campus and saying it was too expensive. I think all of your pieces work together too and outsourcing for someone to make the actual app might be pretty easy.
ReplyDeleteHello Thomas! As always I like to comment on your blogs because they are well set up and really give the reader the opportunity to digest every part. I have also really enjoyed seeing your opinion grow over time, I think the initial idea is smart and I have liked watching it truly blossom. All of your key pieces really seem to blend together which I think is vital to making sure you have a successful product and brand, therefore I really enjoy this idea.
