8A: Solving the Problem
The opportunity I am emphasizing is creating available parking around crowed areas. The first market I would will be targeting would be Gainesville, around UF area. Parking is always a hassle, whether it be storing your car somewhere for the semester, going to class, or going to study/an event.
The solution to this problem is an airbnb platform for parking. People who live in the houses right next to campus can put their empty spaces up for rent and people looking for spots around the area can book them. This is a peer-to-peep parking app which enables the service to solve the problem of parking. Not only homeowners, but businesses as well can take advantage of this too. Basically "Lenders" will advertise their spot at a price they choose and "Users" of the app can open the app up and quickly book that spot.
This would allow people to book long term parking for the semester or just find a place near the stadium within walking distance on game day.
P.S. I currently am working on this idea and connecting with a close friend of mine who is an app developer and is working on the early stages of the app. With that being said please provide any feedback possible!
Hey Thomas... that's an excellent idea! I know there's an app called Rover Parking that works in a few cities in Canada and I know some people who have used it and love it (both as users and lenders). I think that deploying something like that in Gainesville would be beneficial because of the university and also because it's not a massive city that would require a significant amount of additional work. A successful run in Gainesville could lead to expnsion into Tampa or Orlando.
ReplyDeleteThe app would definitely solve some parking problems around Gainesville. If the app would show parking locations close to bus stop and spaces close to the destination it would come as a solution to parents and relatives including some students. Besides, people can make money out of their empty parking spaces
