11A: Idea Napkin No. 1
Me: I am a college student at the University of Florida. My skills are working with all different kinds of people and relating with them them differently and being liked upon all. I have extensive experience in the restaurant industry working in it since I way 15 (I am 20 now). My aspirations are to work hard, period. As of right now I do not know exactly what I want to do, but my plan is to figure it out within the next two years and work super hard at what it is I love to do. If this business unfolded in my favor I could see a great daily life for myself. Running the ParkBuddy app I would be dealing with a bunch of people and having to create great relationships to make everyone apart of the team happy.
What am I offering to customers: I am offering peer to peer parking where people can make money renting out their empty parking spaces from people around the area who need a guaranteed parking space at a reasonable price.
Who am I offering it to: The demographics of my customers come in two areas. For lenders (people renting out their empty parking space) are people who live in houses next to crowded areas. Houses in these areas are usually cheap and the people living in them would take advantage of the extra income on the side. For the Users (people booking parking spaces, everyone who is a fan of big events, and visit them occasionally is what they have in common. Most likely it would be people in a big town next to a major city.
Why do they care: From the research I have done, people pay up to $50 to park somewhere. People end up late to many important events because of parking. People want guaranteed parking in advance at a reasonable price because it would alleviate the hassle of finding parking in crowded areas.
What are your core competencies: What makes me different is peer to peer parking. There are services out there that will help you find parking garages or valet parking, but the aspect of finding people in the community that will rent out their parking spaces to others is what makes us different.
I think all of these pieces fit together. The demographics of the people fit the market and my competitive advantage is clear (peer to peer parking).
Again, I really like your idea of a P2P parking service. As you said, you would hold a strong competitive advantage seeing as how the market is empties of now and the benefit to consumers would be high in terms of saving both money and time.
ReplyDeleteI think pay to park is a really good idea. A lot of people would probably hop onboard with the idea to make a little extra cash on the side and it could only benefit everyone. This would change the whole parking in peoples front lawn for 20 dollars scheme become obsolete at football or another sporting event.
ReplyDeleteThomas, I absolutely love this idea. I live across campus and have a parking spot that I pay $125 for per month. It’s annoying and expensive to pay for something like that over summer when I am not even using it. I could have easily offered it to a wider group of individuals at a discounted rate and saved some money while another person could have found it convenient to go to campus during the summer months.
